Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's Birthday events in Toronto and Ottawa

Burmese democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi spent her 64th birthday alone in jail awaiting the outcome of a ridiculous show trial designed to eliminate her once and for all from the political process in Burma. In a show of solidarity with Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma supporters in Ottawa and Toronto held public events. In Ottawa, 40-50 people gathered at the Human Rights Monument at 8:00pm Friday (June 19). Supporters in Toronto (see picture above) gathered at Dundas Square

More than 150 protested against the detention of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and demanded her immediate and unconditional release. It was held in front of Ontario Provincial Legislative Building in downtown Toronto.

Ottawa Protest for free Aung San Suu Kyi

 

Around 70 Burma supporters in Ottawa gathered in front of Burmese Embassy in Ottawa on this Monday May 18, calling for the release of Burmese democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
