Human Rights Advocacy
CFOB will continue to raise awareness of the appaling human rights abuses that take place in Burma,
as a result of military rule. Our intention is to raise awarenss to the daily atrocities
being committed against the people of Burma, in order to push the Government of Canada and the International Community to act now.
Crime against humanity such as genocide, the systematic use of rape as a weapon of war, forced labour
and many others take place with impunity in Burma.
Violence Against Women
CFOB is working with interns from the Human Rights program at Carleton University
to campaign against violence against women in Burma. This campaign started in January 2005 and will continue for the 2005-2006 academic year. CFOB
interns will hold public events, liase with campus women's and human rights groups and work on
petitions to the Government of Canada and the United Nations, urging action to prevent violence against women in Burma.
Forced Labour
Prisoners of Conscience and Free Expression
A campaign aimed at releasing all political prisoners in BUrma will begin in Sept. 2005. CFOB will work with Amnesty International,
and other advocay groups to bring pressure to bear on the Buremse junta for their continued detention of political prisoners including, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

Public Events
CFOB regularily holds various public events, conferences and meetings to raise
awareness of the situation in Burma.
CFOB also gives talks at universities and secondary schools across Canada,
to inform student about the situation in Burma and how they can help.
