Canada's Oracle OUT-OF-BURMA!
postcard campaign by
Project Maje
maje@hevanet.com
Continuing our campaign to convince petroleum companies to withdraw
from Burma by contacting members of their boards of directors, this
week (March 3, 2002) we write to Mr. Nasim Tyab, President and board member of Oracle
Energy Corp., a Canadian company.
(You can also write if it's past March 3!)
Oracle Energy has recently been invited by Burma's regime to "survey
development potential of oil/gas fields." This could lead to Oracle
Energy (whose only present exploration is in Yemen) investing with the regime.
This week (the week of March 3) please send a note to Mr. Tyab
pointing out the negative aspects of dealing with Burma's junta.

Sample note:
Dear Mr. Tyab,
I hope that you will not pursure any further business dealings with
the brutal regime of Burma. This junta holds power illegitimately,
oppresses ethnic groups including Christians and Muslims, and uses
forced labor on a huge scale.
The regime is involved in the world's largest heroin trade. Engaging in energy business ventures with
that bloodthirsty dictatorship does not help the people of Burma, it
only prolongs and increase their agony. Energy companies including
Amoco, ARCO, Kirkland, Texaco, and Baker Hughes have withdrawn from
Burma after many difficulties, and Unocal is tied up in lawsuits
from its involvement.
Please stop doing business with Burma's heroin thugs!
Sincerely,
Please ask your friends, family and colleagues to send notes to
Mr.Tyab as well. If you are having meetings or gatherings, ask people
to write to Oracle Energy.
